The CTTC IX Conference Venue (the new building which houses Jagiellonian University’s Faculty of Chemistry) is located at Gronostajowa 2, 30-387 Kraków. The venue’s main entrance is accessed from Łojasiewicza street and can easily be reached by public transport (MPK).

From the city center area, you can take tram no. 18 (e.g. stop “Teatr Bagatela”, 5 min. away from “Dom Profesorski im. St. Pigonia”) or tram no. 52 (e.g. stop “Teatr Słowackiego”, 5 min away from the Kraków Główny train station). The “Czerwone Maki P+R” direction of both these routes will take you very close to the conference venue. You can disembark at the “Norymberska” stop. This stop is located near a Kaufland store and is a short walk from the Faculty building – when you disembark, proceed further on foot along the pedestrian path that follows the tram track in the same direction that the tram/bus was going; you will pass by the Hotel Campanile Kraków South and then the faculty building will appear on your right.

Also from the city center, you can take bus no. 194 (e.g. stop “AGH / UR”) going in the “Os. Pod Fortem” direction, disembark at the “Lipińskiego” stop, and then change to any tram going in the direction of “Czerwone Maki P+R”: 11, 17, 18, 52 (after which you can disembark the tram at the “Norymberska” stop and walk to the Faculty building as was mentioned above).

You can also easily plan your trips within the whole city with the jakdojade.pl application at https://jakdojade.pl/krakow/trasa/ (available in English for Android, iOs and Windows Phone), simply enter the starting point and destination and it will print several travel options. With this service you can get real-time directions from your location to any destination using the public transport, as well as an approximate time of arrival at the destination. Alternatively, you can use the Public Transportation Timetables

The tickets can be purchased with cash or card at the ticket machines located at some tram stops and on board of each vehicle. The ticket must be validated after boarding the vehicle. Alternatively, tickets can be purchased and validated via a number of apps.

Please be advised that there are several ongoing construction works around the city of Kraków which may affect public transport. A convenient and up-to-date map of the city transport system can be found at https://www.atlaskolejowy.net/kmkrakow/
Also be advised that the school-year starts on September 2nd, which may affect the public transportation schedules and traveling time.

Below are the prices (in PLN) of some selected tickets in the city transport system MPK:

  • single journey = 60 min ticket, 6.00
  • 48-hour ticket, 35.00
  • 72-hour ticket, 50.00
  • 7-days ticket, 56.00 for the zone I that covers the city of Kraków with the conference venue

Tickets can be bought from vendors at some kiosks, from stationary ticket vending machines at some tram/bus stops, or from ticket vending machines installed in the transportation vehicle (using only coins and / or debit/credit card; some of these machines will take only one option or the other). Be advised that drivers do not sell tickets in the vehicle; you can however use the jakdojade.pl application to buy the ticket using your phone.

Remember that all physical tickets have to be validated (with a time stamp) when you start your journey; this is done by inserting your ticket into one of the stamping machines that are installed in every vehicle – then, within the respective ticket time limit, you can travel on any MPK bus or tram and freely transfer between them.
